Attendance

student is ill form

excused

Parents must email or call the Attendance Office when their child is going to be absent.

.  Anytime you must be absent from school, always check back into school at the attendance office before going to any classes.  Students absent all day should check in before school; students returning from an absence after the start of school should check in before going on to class. Always have a written note explaining your absence when checking back into school.  The note should be written and signed by your parent/guardian and should include your name, the date(s) you have been absent and the reason for your absence.  NO ONE except your parent or guardian may sign an excuse for an absence.

Students, who have appointments during the school day, must bring a note to the Attendance office that morning to arrange for an early dismissal.

Parents must sign their child “OUT” at the attendance office.

STUDENTS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL MORE THAN TWO PERIODS ON THE DAY A SCHOOL FUNCTION IS SCHEDULED (GAME, DANCE, ETC.) ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE PART IN THAT ACTIVITY, EXCUSED OR NOT.

Vacation & Trips

Going on a vacation or trip? Please bring a note to the attendance office PRIOR to leaving. Not to the teachers. The Attendance Office will help in getting all your students work to take with you.

Tardies

Any student who arrives in class after the tardy bell rings is tardy.  Consequences for the first three tardies of each quarter are the responsibility of the classroom teacher.  On the 4th tardy, students will be referred to the office and an after school detention will be assigned.  The fifth tardy will result in a Friday school detention.  The sixth tardy will result in a Friday school detention, and the student will be placed on the Loss of Privilege List for twenty school days.

Any student who arrives  five minutes late or more for class will receive a one hour after school detention.  Chronic tardiness will result in Friday School assignment or suspension from school.

Truancy

Truancy is an unexcused  absence.

A  student is truant if he/she leaves school  without  permission; comes to school but does not attend classes; or obtains permission to go to a certain place but does not report there.  Students  who are truant will suffer loss of certain  privileges and are subject to detention, Friday School or suspension.

Santa Rosa Middle School is a closed campus.  Students are not permitted to leave school at any time during the school day without permission.
